Does this sound familiar?

You know your organization needs to strengthen its funding and partnerships, but it is difficult to know where to begin or what to prioritize.

Your team is pursuing funding opportunities, but not always with a clear strategy for deciding which ones are worth the effort.

Fundraising, proposal development or partnership management is being handled alongside several other responsibilities.

You want stronger relationships with funders and partners, rather than engaging only when an opportunity appears.

A promising opportunity requires coordination across programs, finance, leadership and external partners.

Your processes have developed gradually and could benefit from clearer roles, more consistent tools or a fresh perspective.

You have an important project or idea that needs additional capacity to move it forward.

These situations are common, particularly when organizations are growing, adapting to changes in funding or working with limited internal capacity.

I provide practical, hands-on support to help teams clarify priorities, strengthen partnerships and develop approaches that work for their organization, not just on paper.

How I can help

JDO Impact Advisory works with nonprofits, universities, funders and other mission-driven organizations on institutional funding, proposal management, grantmaking systems, partnerships and practical learning.

Not every organization needs a completely new strategy or system. Sometimes the priority is to make better use of what already exists, clarify responsibilities and identify the changes that would make the greatest difference.

About JDO Impact Advisory

Jelena Damljanovic, founder of JDO Impact Advisory

My name is Jelena Damljanovic.

Pronunciation

Not sure how to pronounce it? You are not the first. Don’t let that stop you from getting in touch! Here is a little help: YEH-leh-nah DAHM-lyah-no-vitch. My name may require a little practice. Working with me does not!

I founded JDO Impact Advisory to help nonprofits, universities and other mission-driven organizations strengthen their funding and partnerships and make the work behind them a little more manageable.

For more than 12 years, I have worked in Europe and Canada with small local nonprofits, a large international humanitarian organization and universities. My work has involved funding and requirements from Global Affairs Canada, USAID, FCDO, the European Union, UN agencies and foundations.

That range of experience has taught me that organizations of every size face challenges. In smaller organizations, a few people may be carrying far too many responsibilities. In larger ones, the challenge is often bringing different teams, systems and priorities together. There is always important work to be done and rarely enough time or capacity to do all of it.

I understand what that looks like from the inside. I can step in when your team needs an experienced pair of hands, help move forward work that has been sitting on the list for too long, or bring structure and clarity to something that has become more complicated than expected.

I have master’s degrees in International Development Studies and International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, and I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). I am also an admittedly lifelong learner. Right now, I am learning more about AI ethics and governance, and I am always curious about how we can work differently, create greater impact and do a little more good on the only planet currently available to us.

I bring experience and an outside perspective, but you know your organization best. The best solutions usually begin with listening and asking the right questions.

I work collaboratively and adapt my support to the realities of each organization. I am not there to arrive with a ready-made solution and tell you what to do. I am there to work with you to strengthen your partnerships, funding and systems, so your team can continue doing its best work and create greater impact in the community you serve.
